I wasn't able to determine when this was written. Whether she wrote it in Russia or after coming to the United States. Either way, it's as true today as ever.

This is a little different this week. Here's an email exchange between Dan and I. Give thanks, that's the point.

Hi Chris

Life if not all doom, it is wonderful if you look in the right places.

My wife sent me a picture of what she picked in our garden yesterday. The caption of the pictures was “ The Lord’s bounty “ , and it was.

This is what the Lord gives.

Our fruit trees have given thousands of pounds of fruit over the years. And the garden planted in spring gives food ,summer thru fall.  There is work involved from seed drop ,to fork to be sure. Brain power  and timing along with the effort.

I will send you a picture of our completed  canning ,once it’s completed. One year she had 150 quart jars of various things, it lasted until the next summer.

I hope your garden did well, getting your concussion wasn’t in the plan. Do you believe your accident this year gave you pause to actually see your life from a stopped position? It did for me. I lived pedal to the metal until my knee surgery. Then from my unwanted stopped position, I got to see a different perspective. It help me realize how blessed I am. I have retirement in the near future. Not that I want it , it’s just I can’t keep doing construction at a young mans level. Trying to relive your youth may damage your old age. God gave you one body, take care of it.

Dan
